Books Info

I began my writing endeavors in a more serious fashion in 2012. I have always enjoyed writing and felt that a book of short stories, poems and essays would be a great way to start. Mind Captures was published in 2016 and it continues to inspire me on a regular basis.

In 2019 I started a period fiction novel entitled “Etienne de Bozouls”, which chronicles the epic and otherworldly experiences of Etienne, a 19th Century monk who flees his town of Bozouls, France to escape shame and condemnation. What follows is an epic journey taking him to Spain, Portugal and eventually to the new world of Southern California where he helps to establish the California Missions systems. Stay tuned as this develops into a finished, published work in 2020.

Enjoy this poem, which appears on the inside cover of the hard copy version of the book:

Every time

Every time and time again, I deliver you to me and don’t receive.
Every time and time again, I am hammered and harangued without reprieve.

Every time and time again, there is a constant sliding of the door;
and every time and time again the warden of wife comes here no more.

Every time and time again, I am relegated to a place of disdain and tolerance.
Every time and time again, I am without remark for being a mute of beaten-down insolence.

Ballet Career

My career as a classically trained ballet dancer spanned a period of 25 years. Starting with a high school musical in 1982 in San Diego, California, I became intrigued and soon thereafter passionate about dance and ballet. My training began at 15 with former dancers from the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Ballet and at Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle, Washington. At 19 I was invited to join the Indianapolis Ballet Theater where I rose to the ranks of dancing principal ballet roles over the next six years. In 1994 I was offered an opportunity to dance with Ballet Austin in corps, soloist, and principal roles. I had ballets created on me and danced in classical and contemporary ballets throughout my career. I learned about the craft of performing and visual arts from the inside out. I danced, designed and made

costumes, painted scenery, taught ballet classes and choreographed ballets during my career. I performed in music videos in London, England and in Miami, Florida. I worked as a principal guest artist with the Edmonton Opera, with Ballet Studio Konami in Fukuoka, Japan, with Ibaraki Ballet in Tokyo, Japan and with various regional companies in the United States.

I now desire to share my lifetime of experience with other aspiring dancers and human beings that simply enjoy what dance has to offer.
I am available to travel world-wide to teach, rehearse, and support the functions of local ballet studios, companies and performing artists. I have a background in business as well and I am able to provide consulting and coaching on improving your overall profitability of your school if that is needed as well. So whether you need a substitute for a week or two in order to take a long overdue vacation, or if you would like to have me come and fill in and support your ongoing development as a school/company, I am here to assist.

Interior Design

Although I have a Bachelor of Science in Apparel and Textile Design, Empahsis in Business Entrepreneurship, from Michigan State University, I do not see a distinction between beautiful apparel design and beautiful interior design. I have consulted on interiors for my real estate clients and have remodeled entire interiors as well.
So whether you need a second opinion about a color for a room or the exterior of your home, or whether you need a full-on interior makeover, I am always pleased to work with you and bring your ideas to reality.

Background

I began my yoga journey in 2010 with Katey Inman, one of the owners of Anchorage Yoga/Cycle. I came to the last class she taught when there was a yoga studio located at what is now the location of Anchorage Cycle, next to Organic Oasis Restaurant, which is one of my favorite places to go for a meal! It was at that class that Katey announced that she would be leaving the yoga studio and starting her own yoga studio in the area. So I waited a few months and when they opened up Anchorage Yoga, I was right there from the beginning. Over the next nine years I took Bikram Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Hot Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Yin Yoga classes in Anchorage. I am always so grateful to share my practice with you and your practice with me. Blessings upon Blessings to you – Namaste y’all!

Over the next nine years I took Bikram Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Hot Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Yin Yoga classes in Anchorage. When I traveled to places like Melbourne, Australia or Albuquerque, New Mexico or New York City, I found yoga classes to take and expand my view shed of what it meant to practice yoga. I enjoyed the gangster rap music played in my LA yoga experiences, the peaceful Zen-quality of my practices with others in classes in Australia, and New York was fast and furious to say the least! In 2019 I decided to go one step further and complete a 200-hour teacher training while concurrently teaching hot flow yoga at Studio, at the Alaska Club, which is their premier location for a hot yoga experience. I am eternally grateful to Tina Day and Janet Warner for taking me under their wings and offering me such a beautiful gift as the training and education I received from all of the deliciously talented instructors that taught me during my teacher training. A special thank you to Lidija Poljaceck-Umphenour for your unfaltering faith in me. So now I am on the path to teach it forward and whether you have experienced a class while drinking a beer at Williwaw, enjoyed a hot yoga class at Studio, or come to Slow Flow at Deha Yoga, I am always so grateful to share my practice with you and your practice with me. Blessings upon Blessings to you – Namaste y’all!
